WHAT A JERK! SEASONING

Jerk is a style of cooking which is native to Jamaica. This cooking style uses a dry rub like our What A Jerk! Seasoning or even a wet jerk marinade (i.e Jerk Juice) which incorporates scotch bonnet and orange habanero peppers.
The jerk concept was originally developed by African slaves who escaped to Jamaica. They slowly cooked the dry-rubbed and wet-rubbed meat over a smoky wood fire.
Typically, one would jerk chicken, goat, pork, or seafood. A few of the key ingredients used are green onions, allspice, ginger and nutmeg.
